Doyle Beneby joined CPS Energy on August 1, 2010 as President & Chief Executive Officer. In his short tenure, the leader of the nation’s largest municipally owned utility has signed agreements with five companies to bring hundreds of jobs to the Greater San Antonio area, increase research and development, enhance educational investments, and further support clean energy offerings to CPS Energy ratepayers. Mr. Beneby is also advancing the utility’s efforts to meet tougher emissions standards through the future closure of CPS Energy’s oldest coal plants.
Prior to joining CPS Energy, Mr. Beneby held several leadership positions with Exelon Power and PECO (Philadelphia Electric Company) after joining PECO in 2003. A veteran of the electric industry with more than 25 years of experience, he most recently served as President of Exelon Power and Senior Vice President of Exelon Generation where he was responsible for the operations of approximately 8,000 megawatts of natural gas, coal, hydroelectric and solar generation in five states. Mr. Beneby previously held the positions of Senior Vice President, Vice President of Operations and Vice President of Construction and Maintenance with Exelon Power. He has also held positions with Consumers Energy in Michigan and Florida Power & Light. Mr. Beneby earned a Bachelor's degree in engineering from Montana Technical College and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami.
