Message From The Chair

Trish DeBerry

Trish DeBerry is president and CEO of The Deberry Group, a communications and advocacy firm in downtown San Antonio.

Trish became a familiar face in San Antonio after spending nearly a decade as a reporter, anchor and producer at KENS-TV, San Antonio’s number one station. She launched her career in public relations as a founding partner of Guerra DeBerry Coody, a successful public relations and marketing firm, and in 2012 started her own firm.

She is known for leading clients through complex and often divisive community issues. She can help influence the influencers and get the right mix of people to contribute to the conversation. A passionate advocate for community improvement and advancement, Trish has championed numerous public initiatives for education reform, improved transportation and better quality of life for South Texans. Her political “wins” include a public relations effort to fluoridate San Antonio's water supply, a campaign for a much-needed sales tax for San Antonio’s public transportation and highway system, and, as campaign manager, helping to elect Ed Garza, the first Hispanic mayor of San Antonio in more than two decades.

In the corporate arena, she has shaped the brands and images of many clients, including H-E-B Grocery Company, Baptist Health System, Vanguard Health Management Inc., Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort, Pace Foods Ltd., Forestar Real Estate Group Inc., SAWS, VIA Metropolitan Transit and Spurs Sports & Entertainment.

Trish is a founding board member of the South Texas Hispanic Fund and commits her time on boards for the San Antonio Children’s Museum, Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas, San Antonio Literacy, Downtown Alliance Chairman of the Board, San Antonio Downtown Rotary, Free Trade Alliance and the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, where she served as Vice Chair, Public Affairs Committee Chair, Communications Committee Chair and Centro Partnership Board of Directors.

Trish has been honored by a profile in PR Week magazine, earned San Antonio & South Texas’ Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Marketing in 1998, and the same year was included in the San Antonio Business Journal’s “40 Under 40.” Trish has also been awarded the NEISD Outstanding Alumni Award and the National Association of Women Business Owners Entrepreneurial Spirit Award.

She has two children, Maddie and Scott.
